Guenter Grossman obtained a Degree (Bachelor of Engineering) in Mechanical Engineering. In 1982 he worked for METTLER Instruments AG, Greifensee, Switzerland as a Materials Engineer before moving to Sulzer Escher- Wyss AG in Zürich, Switzerland in 1986 as a Quality Engineer. He joined the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ( ETHZ ), Zürich, Switzerland in 1989 and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Testing and Research (EMPA) Dübendorf, Switzerland in 1999, in the Reliability Laboratory.
As well as research he has lectured at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ( ETHZ ), Zürich, Switzerland and been a Scientific Guest at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
His speciality is in material science of electronic devices, particularly physics of failure of electronic equipment and components and deformation and degradation of soft solder alloys.
He is project leader of the EUREKA project LEADFREE on reliability of lead-free solders. |
