The Surface Engineering Group of PDM includes a Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering Reference laboratory for the Italian and European metal finishing industry. Key expertise includes electrodeposition, coatings, thin film characterisation - structure, mechanical and magnetic properties, corrosion & wear.
Facilities include microindentation testing instrument, SEM, AFM, XRD, Four Point Probe Ellipsometry, Roughness Measuring System, Electrodeposition facilities (Direct Current, Pulse Plating).
PDM has carried out a series of lead-free projects for industry, including lead-free alloy plating, autocatalytic finish fine-pitch SMT, NiP/Au finish reliability, tin whiskers, OSP preservatives & wire bonding reliability.
It has published 12 lead-free papers, and has 6 patents. |
