IVF's business concept - initiate, perform and transform RTD to growth within the manufacturing industry. It has 100 R&D staff and is owned 60 % Swedish industrial enterprises through the Member Association of IVF and 40 % by the Swedish Government through the holding company IRECO.
IVF is the the Swedish engineering industry's industrial research institute, working with engineering companies and suppliers.
It has extensive experience in inter-disciplinary projects, together with universities, industry and other research institutes. Including EU 4th/5th & 6th Framework.
Facilities include materials and failure analysis lab - Micro focus X-ray, scanning acoustic microscopy, SEM & OM, prototype production lab, SIR and wetting balance, environmental testing facility - temperature cycling & shock, humidity testing, HALT/HASS
IVF has carried out multi client research in lead-free soldering technology - manufacturability, failure mechanisms & reliability.
It is a major partner in the Nordic Industrial Fund project - environmental materials research for electronics production. This has 30 companies + 4 core companies converting to lead-free + 4 Nordic institutes. The project has produced the NoNE lead-free soldering guidelines.
It is a partner in the GREENROSE Collective Research F6 project.
